Title: US Racer Ryan Romaine Running on EBC Yellowstuff Brakes and USR Sport Rotors with Great Success!

alt

I have been doing a lot of work to the car, I did a full Chargespeed Type 1-A Body kit from Japan for the shows. I have also done a lot more suspension work to the car for the track such as steering stabilizers, frame bracing, Solid bushings, BFGoodrich R1 Track Tires. The car handles amazing now with just a bit more frame stiffening and Track tires. I just recently just shot for Import Tuner Magazine so hopefully my feature article will be out in the next few months. I wanted to know if I would be able to get some more EBC brake pads from you. I Just recently wore out my Yellowstuff brakes. The rotors seem to be holding up just fine for the type of heat and braking I am giving them. I wanted to see if I would be able to get a set of Bluestuff brake pads to test out and a spare set of yellowstuff brake pads.

The brakes work fantastic and I would have no hesitation in recommending these having run half a season on one set of yellows. The Bluestuff brakes sound fun and I look forward to running those and comparing to the yellows.

Performance Auto & Sound “2 Covers” Dec/Jan 2011 Issue

Performance Auto & Sound “Cover” Jan/Dec 2011 Issue and “Cover” PASMAG Overdrive Magazine. Hybrid and Import Industry History in the making once again!

Over the past 15+ years, our team has inspired many, brought greatness to more people than we ever imagined, and ingrained ourself in the public consciousness with such force of will that we have become a brand and legendary name. Almost everything we touch, turns into gold. Every suggestive idea, innovative customization, almost every make/model of car, display, Hybrid Hunnyz, accolade, sponsor, trend, and even our management team of co-leaders & chapter directors have been looked up to or copied by various import teams throughout the world.

As your leader, it is my job to continue to lead by example, do what I must behind the scenes in order to continue making Hybrid History and keep us ahead of the competition while our members focus and build their car(s) to be best of the best. Actions speak louder than words. Not only are we making Hybrid History again, we are making Import Industry History by placing two Hybrid cars on the same issue of both Outer & Inside COVERS in Performance Auto & Sound Magazine for the 2nd time. Our team name & logo is also printed on the inside cover to help sell the magazine. We are also the first team to do this for a 2nd time. Some teams may score a cover here and there, but NONE (past or present) have scored two covers in the same issue in the last 15+ years that I know and doing for the 1st time back in 2008 was an honor, but now, we have done it again for a 2nd time. We continue to appreciate the level of respect and relationship we have with our industry partners.

We thought making cover of March 2010 Super Street issue w/ the Mitsubishi EVO VIII was amazing. Now, we just topped ourselves once again. As some of you may know or those that subscribe, PAS is now two magazines in one. There is the PAS Cover and in the magazine, there is another magazine called PASMAG Overdrive which also has its own cover.

Lastly, there is more Hybrid & Import History in the making. PAS has confirmed with me @ SEMA 2010 that Team Hybrid is the most published team in their magazine history.

Congratulations to SoCal Chapter’s Omar Rivas 2004 Honda S2000 in a 5 page “COVER” feature in Performance Auto & Sound Magazine Dec/Jan 2011 issue, pgs 024-030. PAS wrote, “As an added bonus for the body work, the bodyshop introduced him to James Lin of Team Hybrid. Rivas recognized the team from past show cars and magazine covers, so he felt honored to be invited to join them… Rivas gives lots of credit to his family and is proud to have joined Team Hybrid (who are going on 15+ years strong). He says without the support, the would have given up and sold the car long ago.”

Congratulations to Las Vegas Chapter’s Charleston Penesa 2006 Mitsubishi EVO IX on being in a 4 page “COVER” feature in PASMAG Overdrive Magazine which is inside of the Dec/Jan 2011 issue, pgs 088-091. PASMAG titled the article,, “Team Hybrid’s GENERATION9INE.” PASMAG Overdrive wrote, “Penesa with the help of Team Hybrid’s Founder/President, James Lin teamed up with electronic powerhouse Sony, to add some of the latest Sony Xplod gear. Penesa’s installer and fellow Team Hybrid member, Tom Milroy made some room for the Sony XAV-60 double DIN… Penesa is an example of what enthusiasts want today and Team Hybrid’s philosophy – the total package of Race-Street-Show.”

What is Your Team Best Known For?: Being one of “The” oldest, “First” to many of the import competition accolades, most well-rounded, most recognized, well-accomplished, and innovative teams in the import industry.

Club/Team History: Team Hybrid stands for a rich tradition in creativity, originality, and quality. “The idea is to create a team with a diversity of hardworking members and a special individuality to every car. By providing the Team with goals to strive for, each member spends countless hours of time, effort, and dedication to show “Hybrid luv and our purpose. It’s not just about winning a show or a race. It’s about getting there as a team”.

Team Hybrid launched January 7th, 1995 in Oxnard, CA when James Lin decided his ride would complement his peers who value and respect his work. Everyone knows it’s easy to gather a group of friends, and just give it a title to start a Team, but in contrast, James, the co-leaders, members and hunnyz have built a team of legendary status and respect.

Team Hybrid is a passion each member feels. With a strong leader, there is always a good supporting staff to aid and carry out additional responsibilities.

At the head of James’ staff is Vice President, Wayne Chen (1999). Em Suvanamas (2001) serves as the Human Resource Director. Robert Chew (2003) serves as the Events Director. Michael Lin (1995) serves as the Treasurer. Scott Dean serves as the San Diego Chapter Director. Archie Concon and Nick Irie are the Las Vegas Chapter Directors.Team Hybrid has also discovered some of the finest-most well known models (aka. Hybrid Hunnyz) in the industry.

Not only was Hybrid the first to do it, the team was also the first to do it back to back when they swept the team categories again at HIN-San Diego in 2003; In 2005, NCCA added an additional category for the team competition at Vision’s HIN shows, Hybrid did it again by being the first team to sweep the team categories of Best Team Overall, Best Team Representation, and Best Team Participation at HIN-Los Angeles; From 2002 HIN SD – 2003 HIN SD, first team in the most competitive region of USA (S. Future Plans: Unveiling more projects / models / display show presentation while maintaining our brand equity. Hybrid wants everyone in the industry to continue to know that they have their own way of doing things. “We’re a family,” says Team president James Lin. “We do things a certain way because it’s a tradition that the team and co-leaders have set. That’s why Hybrid has been here as long as it has and remained one of the top if not ‘the’ import team.”

Membership Fees: There is a standard monthly due, but does not apply to models. Amount varies depending on membership.

Final thoughts: Team Hybrid has always committed towards pushing the envelope in terms of our development to set standards as a well recognized team in the import industry.

Till this day, there are ‘x’ and ‘y’ team who try to emulate our formula, but rarely do they succeed, and as the competition grows; what separates us from the rest is truly dependant on the type of people who come to join us as well as the leader and co-leaders in charge to pave the way in our endeavor towards making Team Hybrid a standard for those who desire a legendary import club of their own.

These very special people have come into our lives and each have contributed towards our life-long project of Team Hybrid.

As we continue to honor their sacrifice, our deep roots in the scene will prove to out-last the imposters as well as any facsimile of the original.

After almost fifteen years, we continue to grow and so does the scene. We feel extremely blessed that we are still considered as one of the top teams especially to be chosen to do this article. We hope to keep on innovating and proving year after year that the Hybrid Formula is an accomplishment which we will remember for the rest of our lives. May our tradition continue making history….

Words of advice: Good things will continue to happen for most of you individually and especially our team as a whole if one can keep their ego in check and trust in our family because all teams must constantly defend against the pitfalls of egos run a muck. Our team with a 15+ year history, 4 chapters, top of the line hunnyz, still winning Best Team Overall, signing team title sponsors for the 8th-10th year in a row, landing covers/features year to year consistently and etc. must be doing something not only right but simply amazing & legendary!

Hybrid luv,

James Lin

Import Tuner December 2009

In Import Tuner December 2009 issue , pg 014, there is an article about Nisei Showoff 2009; Little Tokyo – Los Angeles, Ca.

Title of the article is “GoodBye Nisei Showoff.”

IT wrote, “It’s absolutely true that all good things come to an end.

The only question is whether the end is really the end….Recently, Los Angeles’ Little Showoff: L.A.’s title match among elite Japanese import show cars.

This was the tenth consecutive event in as many years as it’s been held, and – as Nisei Week organizers broke the news to disheartene enthusiasts day of how – was to be it’s last…If the rumors prove to be true, then it’s safe to say the good times went out with a bang. Registration was up so much over preceding years that only the creme de la creme of modified rides were allowed admittance….offering from teams High End, ar-kan, M2tuning, Hybrid, Infinitwheels.com and DD Garage.”

Team Hybrid is still one of “the” elite echelon of import teams from a decade and a half ago till this very day.

Impressive or impossible for another import team to ever match our record, success and innovation?

I guess we will never know anytime soon especially since we are still here today rockin’ true import team and once again, on the top of our game by becoming the #1 Import Team Overall – Quality @ Nisei Showoff 2009. Much luv to all the current Hybridz who continue to believe, dedicate and trust the Hybrid formula & tradition.

2Dr EVO at Fontana Drag Racing

SO we went to BOTI in Fontana CA finals on Nov 22, 2009. It was a last minute thing for me because I didn’t even know about this even until the day before the event. I took the Mirage down to Cali to see what she runs on a well preped track.

I was hoping to hit 10’s on BFG KDW2, HRE wheels, and BBK. Just the way the car sits when I go to carshows.lol.. THANK YOU TO ALL MY SPONSORS and FRIENDS to get me this far!

First pass of the day after missing the 1st round qualifying runs:

Qualified 2nd, and got me a buy run (1st 10.8 at 138 mph pass on the car):

Semi finals, (back to back 10’s passes):

The 4th run, I lost to a subaru that ran 8.9 at 150+mph… over all, it was a nice race. took 2nd place on Street Tuner class. My very first time racing on a event like this. Not bad eh? lol..

So far my goals this year were met. I wanted to break in the 700 HP range and hit 10’s on street tires by the end of 2009. I did 742 awhp and 603 awtrq and ran 10’s back to back.

anyways, here’s the dyno sheet and the dyno video:
