AutoImportCraze.com Jul. ’08 Featured Article – Jason MacGill’s Evo MR VIII

Congratulations to Jason MacGill’s Mitsubishi EVO MR VIII for a main feature on www.AutoImportCraze.com.

AIC: Final thanks and shout outs?
Jason: – James Lin and the Team Hybrid Family
– Eiji Mihara, Steve Enomoto, Tomo Hayashi and Riki Endo @ Tomei Powered USA
– Hybrid Hunnyz

AIC: How long have you owned the car?
Jason: 2 years.

AIC: How much money have you invested on your ride?
Jason: I don’t keep track.

AIC: Name one particular mod in your vehicle that stands out to you?
Jason: Tomei’s ExPreme line are some of the best engineered parts I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning, installing and driving on. So much care goes into these parts to make significant power gains at every aspect of the power band. Their engineers are relentless with their innovation, inspiration and dedication to their craft, their company and each other.

AIC: What’s is next for the car? Future mods?
Jason: Looking at my car is like looking at a Starbucks. A few years back it was rare. Online, we had dedicated threads to post “IF you spot a fellow owner” and that was a big deal. Now, every 16 year old who got a B- on their math quiz is getting one. This is a car that I purchased from a fellow tuner then re-structured. I didn’t have the luxury of assisted funds or someone to tell me what to do next. Having a production car that is unique from the car next to it means something to me. It’s what makes me different from every other EVO on the road. So at this point, the answer to “what’s next” is a full tear down, and rebuild. Everything has to go to make way for the next incarnation.

AIC: What was the 1st car you drove?
Jason: 1982 Honda Prelude

AIC: Hottest trend in the scene?
Jason: D. Huang and the ungodly hotness that will shortly be unveiled.

AIC: Worst trend in the scene?
Jason: There are bad ideas out there, sure. And there are things that do and don’t suit my tastes. But I think the worst trend of any project is poor planning. If you’re going to start a project…if you’re going to build a car (or anything) it really is a reflection of who you are and says a lot to your character. In the car scene, people often grab every cool item off the shelf during their build and the result is chaos. Mixed manufacturers are never the way to go as it destroys the continuity of the build.

AIC: Has the car been dyno’d?
Jason: Yes 342WHP on 91 Octane. An estimated 386WHP on 100

AIC: What was the last traffic ticket or violation you incurred? If any?

Jason: No Comment

PASMAG Jul. ’08 Featured Article – Kirby Wang’s GS300

Congratulations to Kirby Wang’s 1998 Lexus GS300 in a 4 page full feature in Performance Auto & Sound Magazine’s July 2008 issue, pgs 106-110. PAS wrote, “By definition, the term ‘hybrid’ means “anything derived from heterogeneous source, or composed of elements of different or incongruous kinds” (thanks Dictionary.com!) Though the literal definition is sounds somewhat ambiguous, hybrid is a little more specific in tuner-speak. On the technical end, the term can be used to describe a vehicle that has received an engine transplant or even a motor that’s been pieced together from others. However, on the show circuit, Hybrid is synonymous with one of the most famous car crews in sport compact history. Team Hybrid has been representing Southern California tuning for as long as I can remember and team founder James Lin’s squad has evolved along with the scene…” This feature article is titled, “Hybrid Love” When your team name is in the title of the artilce, you know your team has made it to the big times. But when a term coined by the team becomes something the industry becomes familiar with and uses it as the main title of the article, you know your team is not only famous but respected amongest your peers. Why do we command such respect….? One main reason is because WE DON’T BUY RESPECT. WE EARN IT.

Our very own HybridHunnyz.com model, Abbie Ratay, is also on the cover. Congratulations. She is one of our more popular Hunnyz on the website.

AutoImportCraze.com Jul. ’08 Featured Article – Alvin Puertollano’s G35

Congratulations to Alvin Puertollano’s Infiniti G35 for a main feature on www.AutoImportCraze.com.

AIC: Final thanks and shout outs?
ALVIN: Shout outs to my fam bam and TEAM HYBRID.. ***Hybriiiid… Hybrid!!** And also a big shout out to Frankie K and Karl K @ AAAutoworks in Van Nuys for taking care of almost everything on my car. Owe it up to you guys!!! To F1audio and AAautosound as well for doing such a great job on my system. To my Girl for supporthing me; and to the rest…

AIC: How long have you owned the car?
ALVIN: Going on for 3 years

AIC: How much money have you invested on your ride?

ALVIN: Not sure but the last mod cost me 3 jobs right now. =)

AIC: Name one particular mod in your vehicle that stands out to you? Special factor or sentimental value?
ALVIN: I think my paint stands out just about from anybody. Well everyone asks me “Why Orange?” ….it’s my favorite color next to blue.

AIC: What’s is next for the car? Future mods?

ALVIN: I will be working on engine bay and finish up my interior.

AIC: What was the last traffic ticket or violation you incurred? If any?

ALVIN: Oh SNAP!!! This issue…are you aware of this “new thing” now in Van Nuys or Reseda? OK… they installed new cameras and you have to FULLY stop before the PEDESTRIAN crossing lane. If you passed that, sensor will kick in and it will cite you for unsafely driving. It sucks it got me twice in one week. So now I gotta remember to stop before any line on that intersection.

AIC: Other than your car… do u have a dream car?

ALVIN: SKYLINE GTR… Lambo Murcielliego or something.. And realistically once I start making that kind of money I’d get me a SL55 AMG Mercedes Roadster. Dang sooo fast!

Modified Jun. ’08 Featured Article – Jason MacGill’s Evo MR VIII

Congratulations to Jason MacGill’s Mitsubishi EVO MR VIII on being in a full 5 page feature in Modified Magazine June 2008 issue, pg 080-086. The title of the article is “NO Mistakes. Every Modification on MACGILL”S EVO has a Meaning Behind It.” Modified wrote, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression….Jason MacGill’s of Southern California is proud to be a member of Team Hybrid, but is even prouder to introduce the second rendition of the second EVO he’s built.” There will always be critics, but the critics whose opinion matter and have the respect of our industry continue to show our team luv.
